About Me
In my early adult life, I was very active. I was an avid swimmer, hiked outdoors, enjoyed the gym and participated in mini-triathlons. Then, I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue, adrenal exhaustion and Hashimoto's Disease after working long hours as a high-tech marketing executive in Silicon Valley.
To manage stress more effectively, I started practicing yoga and meditation on a regular basis in the mid-90s. After experiencing improved health, I completed my basic Hatha yoga teacher training in 2011 and began teaching in 2012. When I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training, I was given the Sanskrit name "Prashanti" as a reminder to myself to continue practicing each day to work towards peace. Today, I have over 3000 hours of teachings hours as an E-RTY and C-IAYT.
I incorporate many dimensions of yoga in my teaching to support healing and wellness including asanas (postures), bandha (energy locks), mudras (energetic gestures and seals), pranayama (breath-work), deep relaxation, meditation, mindfulness, mantra (sacred sounds), bhavana (imagery & visualization), sankalpa (affirmation / intention), energy work, gentle touch, yogic lifestyle, and yoga philosophy. Both 1-1 sessions and group classes are tailored to meet individual needs to facilitate optimal health.
As a yoga therapist, I work with clients recovering from or living with chronic fatigue, adrenal fatigue, traumatic brain injury (TBI), brain tumors, Alzheimer's Disease, stroke, heart disease, Parkinson's Disease, multiple sclerosis, Ehlers-Danlos Disease, breast cancer, arthritis, chronic pain, post traumatic syndrome (PTSD), depression, anxiety and post-surgery.
